Marin Kabig

The kabig is a traditional Breton jacket worn for generations by the sailors and farmers of the coast. Its name comes from the Breton "kab", meaning cape, and it was designed to withstand sea spray, wind and cold without hindering movement. Its hood protected the head, its ample cut allowed for layering, and its wooden toggle fastening resisted the harshest conditions. It was a working garment, robust and functional, which endured through the seasons and the years.
Our kabig remains faithful to this heritage: cut from a wool cloth unlined except at the sleeves, it retains its traditional wooden toggles with press studs. It features a hood, a horizontal chest pocket, two outer pockets with a notched pocket flap and an inner buttoned pocket. It is an authentic garment, steeped in history, worn with the same simplicity as in days gone by.

To take care of your blended wool garments, here are a few recommendations:

Wash your garments only when necessary. Over-washing can damage the fibres.

Wool-blend garments are easier to maintain than pure wool, but for best longevity, follow wool-care habits:
- Use a gentle detergent
- Avoid fabric softener
- Wash at a maximum of 30°C
- Use a low spin cycle: 400–600 rpm
- Do not tumble-dry
- Dry flat, in a temperate, well-ventilated area
- Do not soak

Wool blends are easier to iron, but always use the wool setting to protect the most delicate fibres.
